Inspiration for this costume
This costume is a prototype for a technique I’ll be using to make a full Iron man suit. I had a lot of commission work in the run up to Minami which that took priority, so I only had a week to make this. We knew we’d be using it in a skit so it didn’t matter how finished it would be, but I tried to make it look as good as I could in the time available.
Making Details
This is made from EVA foam covered in PVA fabric glued with contact adhesive. It’s a great method and when I get it down pat I’ll be making a tutorial on how it works. The pattern for the costume was taken from a pepekura base, though I had to do some heavy editing to make it suitable.
Final Thoughts
I had a great time in this! It’s built to be a skit costume so I chose comfort and moveability over accuracy. Go watch our skit, it’s a fantastic time!
A Big thanks to Matt and Timber for helping glue all the fabric- I couldn’t have made this costume in time without you guys!
