Back from BanzaiCon and Norway!
Just got back from Banzai con and my fantastic trip to Norway. I tell you, the Norwegians know how to throw a con!
Some of the highlights of my trip:
- Waking up at 4 am for the train trip to London Stansted
- Paying £70 because when Ryanair says 2 15kg bags, they mean 1 on the way, 1 on the way back.
- Airports make people seriously angry. I was the happiest one there I swear.
- Landing on a run way with 5 feet of snow on either side
- Becoming “The English Dude” on the friday because I didn’t mention why I was there to people.
- Paske Eggs!
- My hotel room shower had 2 shower heads. One for my head, one for my butt.
- Free wifi!
- The opening show!
- Awesome stage with amazing projector and sound system! I got to use a headset mic!
- People loving my stall stuff
- Meeting some amazingly friendly people and talking about the difference between the countries
- Weird money is weird!
- Pizza at the end of the convention with some of the people I’d made friends with. Awesome end to an evening.
- Norway man and Norwegia woman!
- Selling enough that I could abandon a suitcase in Norway and not pay the extra luggage charge on the way back.
Here’s the video of the opening show. I kind of turned away at the caramelldansen bit thinking it would be like every expo, but then it got so much better. These guys are great, you can tell they worked hard, and it’s really funny.

Also, here’s a picture of Norway from my hotel room:

when did you come to the hotel you stay’d on, I’m wondering because my class had a prom there at thursday.

Haha! That’s one of my favourite panels to give. It’s always a laugh- though that was the first time someone volunteered to get into the binder for me and actually did it!
February 22, 2011 at 12:41 pm
Missed your panel due to con duty :| But I had great fun discussing..certain subjects with you the evening before the con :P
Glad you had a great time, hope you’ll be back next time :D
February 22, 2011 at 1:04 pm
Haha, we did talk about some interesting things!
I shall hopefully be back for another con! You couldn’t keep me away!
February 22, 2011 at 1:07 pm
I truly enjoyed your presentation about Steampunk, you gave a great amount of tips and hints in how to have the most fun while doing it without TELLING us what to do. Amazing presentation is amazing, if you catch my drift^^
February 22, 2011 at 1:05 pm
I’m glad you liked it! I try to let people do their own thing when it comes to steampunk- it’s all about your own interpretation, and I love seeing what new ideas people come up with!
February 22, 2011 at 1:08 pm
You were amazing! Learned so much more about makeup and all that stuff n.n
And my friend was so happy for the signature you wrote on the T-shirt we gave to her, thankyouu! ^w^

I’m glad I could help! I’ll try and get some tutorials up on here soon around cosplay stuff, hopefully that will help people a bit more!

Påskeegg! <3
Your stand had lots of amazing stuff, and I still feel sorry for myself for not being fast enough to get any goggles.
Ha, ha!
February 22, 2011 at 4:35 pm
Haha yeah! I should have warned people that goggles tend to go fast, but I never know what’s going to sell out first! Each con is different, and sometimes I barely sell at all.
Paskeegg!

I loved your panels because they gave such great tips and your british -oh-so-wonderful accent is so oh-so-wonderful to listen too!
Glad you had a great time and I hope you would come for DesuCon, since it’s larger and bigger.. And.. Larger…

I’m looking at going to DesuCon- we’ll see what the organisers have to say about things! Though it’s really hard to find out what dates it will be- I had to ask a Norwegian friend, and she only knew through facebook!

February 28, 2011 at 4:58 pm
The panels I did were steampunk, props and special effects, so I don’t know if there’s anything that would help you with your maid’s dress. Sorry!
